One student at a time, one classroom at a time, one school at a time, Green Bronx Machine builds healthy, equitable, and resilient communities through inspired education and local food systems.
Green Bronx Machine is an impact driven, for-purpose 501(c)(3) rooted in the belief that we are all Amer-I-Cans. Born in the South Bronx through collaboration between life-long educator Stephen Ritz and his students, our work has evolved from an after-school program into a fully integrated K–12+ school-based model that uses urban agriculture to grow healthy students and healthy schools. Our favorite crops include spectacular academic performance, graduates, living wage jobs, and thriving communities.
